We believe that no one should grieve alone. Therefore, our bereavement ministry is dedicated to working with families in a variety of ways, to help comfort them in their time of grief. The ministry provides emotional and spiritual support, demonstrating the love of Christ to all, that they will know, Christ cares about their sorrow. Matthew 5:4 NIV “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.”
C.I.A. (Christians In Action) Youth Ministry
We have a very vibrant and enthusiastic group of young people whose endeavor is to reach the youth of our city. They are taught to be kind to others and bold to witness. Events and programs are plentiful in order to encourage and enlighten.
Children are an intricate part of our church. They know that they are important to God and to the ministry. They know that Jesus wants them to have an active relationship with Him, so they are ever looking to praise and worship Him as well as help Him in His work here on earth. They are reminded constantly that Jesus loves them and is with them. They are not ashamed to tell others about Him.
The Christian education ministry promotes a solid foundation in the word of God and Christian lifestyle. In order to train the people of God to apply the word to everyday life, various opportunities are provided including: Sunday school, discipleship classes, bible studies, family nights, educational seminars, and dramatic arts. Additionally, scholastic achievement is encouraged through yearly educational scholarships. CE Fitness symbolizes the need for the Body of Christ to be ‘strong in the ways of the Lord’ and ‘fit for the battles we face.’ We strongly believe “Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).
“ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh’ (Genesis 2:24 NIV). We believe that the first ministry given to man was the ministry of family. This union between one woman and one man, as explained in scripture, is the nucleus of the church. Healthy marriages are essential for healthy families. If there is no unity in the home, there is no unity in the church. The fast paced world we live in provides so many distractions that can cause strain on a marriage leading to strife, indifference, infidelity, and ultimately divorce. It is our goal to minister to the needs of our married couples by providing them with sound biblical teaching through various forms, such as: seminars, forums, open discussion, group fellowship, media assistance, etc.
Dance belongs to God and it is God’s intent for us not to entertain, but to praise Him! Psalm 150:4 NIV sums it up best: “Praise Him with the timbrel and dance, praise him with stringed instruments and organs.” As King David danced before the Lord with all of his might, he used his body as an instrument of praise and righteousness. So do our dance ministries. (2 Samuel 6:14) We have dance ministries for all ages, with various forms of study ie: liturgical, lyrical, etc.
Daughters of the King
A setting designed to teach women how to realize their worth and use their gifts and talents to display their trust in God and move humbly into a position of royalty whereby we are instrumental in impacting and saving our country.
Our Deaf Ministry seeks to encourage and support the Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing by presenting the Gospel and interpreting our services into American Sign Language. Come and enjoy Broadway like quality in an anointed Church setting. Audio CD’s and DVD’s of sermons are available for a small donation.
Our Men’s Fellowship is designed to explore, discuss and find solutions to situations that men face today. The men of God at the Cathedral diligently, daily, compel and encourage men to take their rightful place as heads and servants of their families submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ who taught us to be under authority and to have authority in this present world. Our goal is to snatch men out of the fire and show them how good it is to be free by our lifestyles.
Music & Arts Ministry
The Lord has blessed us with some of the best singers and musicians ever! Many are recording artists, and they love rendering service to the Lord and ministering to the people of God. Sunday after Sunday we are blessed by extraordinary and blissful voices that charge the atmosphere and usher in the moving of the Holy Spirit whereby we worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Skits and short plays may be presented on any Sunday morning or Wednesday evening as our director is led. Sermons and teachings are made clearer and brought to light by the gifted cast of actors and actresses.
Luke 10:2 NIV: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest Field. “ We have various outreach ministries with one goal in mind. That goal is to bring in the harvest, through many different avenues. We have our “Night Run” team that goes out in the middle of the night to minister to those in the streets and pass out blankets in the winter months. Our Outreach Feeding / Clothing Ministry provides food and clothing to hungry and homeless individuals two Sundays per month at the John Street underpass. Our teams also visit the convalescent homes and homeless shelters. We have also organized annual community days where we distribute clothing, offer family fun and food, free to the community with active witnessing. We also have a Follow-Up Team who seek to contact those who are ministered to on these evangelistic runs, offering them prayer, witnessing and whatever assistance they may need.
We have a team of people who go out every month and minister to those who are incarcerated. When Jesus hung on the cross the murderer said, “We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong. Then he said, ‘Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ Jesus answered him, ‘I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.'” (Luke 23:41-43 NIV) No matter what one has done, Jesus died for the sins of all.
The mission of the Singles Ministry is to encourage single Christians ages 21 and over (singles, single parents, divorcees and widows) in further developing their personal relationship with Christ to become mature Christians. The journey in achieving excellence in our Christian walk begins with knowing who we are in Christ as a single person. This ministry is designed to assist singles in developing themselves as whole men and women of God through bible-based teachings, seminars, prayer, services and fellowships geared toward life as a single Christian.
V.I.N.E. (Virtuous, Image, Nurturing Empowerment) Sisterhood Mentoring Program
The V.I.N.E. Kingdom Sisterhood is established to cultivate and encourage young ladies ages 11-25 to be the purpose-driven women that God designed them to be. To strengthen their relationship with Christ Jesus through learning and applying the Word, by building Kingdom relationships and providing support and nurturing of the body of Christ. In order to produce good fruit in their lives and give glory to the Kingdom.
There is always some program, event or service at the Cathedral to encourage women. The needs of single, married and widowed women are addressed on a regular basis and our women are raised to another dimension under great leadership and dedicated partnership.
